Donald Trump will win this election, and the democrats are letting him. I know this may sound bold, and some might accuse me of being clickbaity, but hear me out! A shift is happening inside of the democratic party. One might say it’s in crisis, and largely it’s on its own doing.
To understand how the democratic party arrived at this point, we need to look back to 2008 and the election of Barack Obama. This was the moment when the foundation for today’s crisis was laid wiith Obama’s election. The democrats with their poster boy Barack used what I call the Obama Plan, which was a quite genius (if I must admit) political campaign that centered on leveraging civil rights-era language and popular cultural elements of Black identity to galvanize political support, particularly from Black and colonized communities. This strategy relied on invoking themes such as hope, progress, justice, and equality—concepts that resonate with Black voters due to their association with historic struggles for civil rights coming out of the Jim Crow South. It weaponizes identity politics for the goal of integrating the colonized classes into the electoral system under the guise that “change” can be made from the white house. It uses this idea that we can somehow get free by having a Black man as “commander in chief”. It was a winning strategy that got Obama two terms in office, but as times and conditions change, these same strategies can’t and won't continue to work.
While this strategy proved successful during Obama’s presidency, the democrats, in their typical neoliberal arrogance, have been trying to replicate the Obama Plan with Kamala Harris. When she first announced she was running for the 2020 democratic nominee, she too used a similar language of hope. She launched her campaign in Oakland, CA, a city renowned for its activism and radical history. Not only that, she announced her presidential candidacy on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, invoking the legacy of King as a civil rights leader to underscore her commitment to justice and equality. Her campaign slogan was “For The People,” again invoking civil rights rhetoric as if Kamala Harris hadn't spent most of her career boosting the neo-slave prison industrial complex. Well, that 2020 campaign failed for her, as she failed to develop a formidable campaign and had a hard time financing it as well. Though I believe her intention of running was never to win, and was always to be the vice president under Joe Biden, securing Black votes for the Biden campaign under the same rhetoric of the Obama Plan.
Now, enter this 2024 election. Throughout Biden’s term, he has demonstrated to be a complete degenerate and is aging out of the position as he is 81 years old. This was well known by the democrat elites, and after a terrible performance in his debate, which I argue was orchestrated by the democrats themselves knowing Joe’s condition. They purposely let him up there to fail in front of the amerikan public for their own internal strategy for the party. Not even the so-called commander-in-chief is bigger than the power of the corporate oligarchs in the democratic party. Quickly after the debate, all of the democrat corporate news networks essentially wrote the eulogy for Biden’s campaign. Now some might argue that was happenstance, but they had to have a very public display of Biden’s lack of ability, and they had to do it in a timing in which a new person they could choose could be fast tracked as the next candidate.
This perfectly allowed for the democratic machine to put their frontrunner into the top of the ticket, without having to go through the typical process of choosing a nominee. They used a manufactured crisis in order to put Kamala Harris in a position where she was fast tracked to the top, and practically overnight, she was chosen to be the next democrat to run for president of the united states of amerika.
Millions upon millions of dollars were funneled overnight. And very quickly she began using “The Obama Plan” identity politics rhetoric for her campaign. However, it’s very clear that this cannot work. Shoot, it didn’t even work for her in 2020! Why would it work now? The democratic establishment knows it can’t win with this strategy. But why run Kamala using this?
Beneath the familiar rhetoric of the Obama Plan, lies a more subtle shift—one that moves Harris and, by extension, the democratic party, further to the right. This conservative switch is no longer a byproduct but a deliberate strategy. One that I believe involves the democrats conceding this election to Donald Trump. After all, the democrats and republicans are like a pendulum swing, sometimes they get two terms, sometimes they get one, but they will always be in power one way or another. The same way the democrats put Biden up to lose, is also the strategy they are using with Kamala Harris.
Harris represents the height of the neoliberal identity politics that uses identity as a method to engage the public. Since her campaign was launched, she has been putting the Obama Plan practically in full swing. From using cultural jesters like Beyonce, Usher, Glorilla, and Meg The Stallion to “appeal” culturally to so-called Afrikan-amerikans. To doing speeches at her alma mater Howard University. Or whether it’s her rhetoric of stopping “historic’ progress by having Donald Trump win. This is all being used to activate an African-amerikan base and a base of women generally to be further entrenched into the democratic party, not particularly for just this election, but for elections to come in the future.
However, if you pay attention carefully, her rhetoric is conservative. Though I would argue she has always been conservative, whether it’s her career as a prosecutor being ‘tough on crime’ sending parents to jail for three kids missing schools, or as a czar on the border, terrorizing refugees, and the list goes on.
For the sake of brevity, let’s take a closer look at her conservative nature this campaign. Firstly, she vowed to create a ‘bipartisan council’ at the white house. Essentially saying she won’t fill her office with solely democrats and instead go across the aisle for corporate unity. In addition, Kamala has even received endorsements from key conservative figures in amerikan politicians like Dick Cheney, yes the same Dick Cheney under president bush who launched the war on terror. It’s actually quite fitting that she received Cheney’s endorsement given the genocidal campaign Harris’s administration has been a part of in Palestine and Lebanon.
She has also gotten key conservative endorsements from Liz Cheney, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jeff Flake, Anthony Scaramucci, and many other influential conservative figures. Outside of the big figures, republican rank and file are also endorsing Kamala, as more than 200 former republican presidential staffers sign an open letter endorsing Harris over Trump. What we are seeing in real time, is republicans crossing the aisle alongside the shift and rebranding of the democratic party, and it becoming more conservative, and if we open up the history books, this is nothing new.
After the Civil War, the so-called republican party was originally ‘anti-slavery’ and considered more progressive, while the democrats were associated with the confederacy and being pro slavery. However, with the Compromise of 1877, which marked the end of Reconstruction, the republican party shifted from its alleged civil rights stance to focus on economic development, which made it lose support amongst Black people in amerika. Fast forward to the Civil Rights Era, where race relations amongst white and Black amerika were at a boiling point, we saw a major shift, where the democratic party was now seen as progressive, and the republicans conservative. Today, again amongst an ongoing genocide in Palestine, and where race relations too have been at a boiling point, we are witnessing another major political realignment within the democratic party, with career republicans crossing the aisle and voting democrat, largely because the democrats are reshaping the party and its neoliberal policies. And Kamala Harris is being used in a strategic position to swing the party even more conservative.
Kamala’s intentional and strategic failures will be blamed on the pitfalls of liberal identity politics which seek to weaponize identities for the neoliberal establishment. With this failure, the democrats will wash away strategies like the “obama plan” and instead focus on appealing to the average amerikan. The Democratic Party, though never truly progressive, will eliminate any remaining "neoliberal pseudo-progressive" elements to push the party even further to the right, setting the stage to run their favored candidate, the "good white man" and so-called fresh start, Gavin Newsom, in 2028. The democratic party has gladly made this concession in 2024 which will lead to their strategic rebrand. And after a disgruntled 4 years of a Trump presidency, and worsening economic conditions, the republicans too will wish to rid themselves of this chapter of donald trump's style of rule, and the whole political establishment will get behind the so-called strong white male leader in gavin newsom.
Before I conclude this article, it is a necessity that we look at the international implications of this election. Trump represents the amerikan capitalist businessman. He embodies domestic production, 'made in usa' policies, tariffs against China, and a capitalist order that prioritizes amerika as a top-tier business entity focused on profit. This aligns with national interests that appeal to many amerikans workers and unions, providing a temporary band-aid solution to the economic woes creating a tense domestic situation.
Trump also represents an international business—a stance that, in a multipolar economic system, signals to the rest of the world that amerika, an empire in economic decline, is pivoting towards more business development and economic leverages (neo-colonialism) rather than the imperialist wars often greenlit by the democratic establishment.
Trump's economic policies are bound to be a strategic failure for corporate capitalism. His 'made in usa’ policies and tariffs are temporary measures unsuited for a global multipolar economic order. They have no future and are not sustainable for the globalist agenda of corporate finance capital. Tariffs only increase costs for consumers and they will also have an effect on u.s. industries as well. These shortcomings will ultimately propel the corporate capitalist order, which does not prioritize 'made in usa policies', and only cares about profits flowing back to the global ruling class. Trump's failures will usher in a new wave of Reaganite economics characterized by deregulation, 'free market' policies, and an expansion of global trade and neo-colonial business arrangements under a U.S.-driven globalist agenda. This necessary reshaping will mark a significant epoch in this new wave of neoliberalism and market driven expansion.
It’s a new age for amerikan politics and the democratic party. amerika is a corporate state run by corporate actors. The corporate oligarchs have marked this new phase in international capitalism through the political theater of this campaign, the crossing and blurring of lines in the so-called two-party state, and the forthcoming shifts in economic policies. The two parties are just an illusion of choice, and the one party that truly rules is corporate capitalism. This shift in party dynamics represents the fluidity of the amerikan political system, where there is, in reality, only one ruling party. It’s time we recognize these political conditions and build our own political institutions, like a people's senate, and create programs for decolonization in our neighborhoods across the country, so that we can fulfill our human rights and become our own liberators.
